Rebeca
Before taking
up Argentine Tango, Rebeca danced and performed Ballroom, Swing, and Latin dancing through Barbara's Dancing Tonight in
Davis, California, for ten years. She now dances and teaches Argentine Tango exclusively.
Rebeca grew up in Mexico, where tango music was played in her home when she was a child. Encountering
the music many years later brought back memories long forgotten, which endeared her to the dance.
Rebeca has taken private instruction with many Argentine Tango masters including Carlos and Maria Rivarola,
Oscar Mandagaran, Nito and Elba and Hugo and Miriam. Rebeca loves to dance and loves
to share the joy of dancing with students. Her philosophy is to teach students musicality first, then basic
tango techniques like posture, walking, frame and connection, and finally, tango steps.
Rebeca teaches a Beginning and a Continuing Argentine Tango class at the Experimental College at
UC Davis with Ed Loomis as partner. She also partners with Ed in an Intermediate/Advanced Tango class at Step One in
Sacramento, California. (See below.)
Rebeca
Basave & Ed Loomis teach at the UC Davis Experimental College, South Silo, Davis. "Beginning Argentine Tango"
at 8:00 PM, and "Continuing Tango" at 9:00 pm. Contact Rebeca, Rebec1717@aol.com for info or the EC web site, www.experimentalcollege.org or 530-752-2568, to enroll.
Rebeca
Basave and Ed Loomis will be teaching "Tango:
Outside the Box" from 7:00-8:30 p.m. followed by a práctica from 8:30-10:00 p.m. While this combination
class and práctica is designed for students with a broad range of levels, we strongly recommend that students have
first completed Levels I, II, and III of the Tuesday night or Saturday program, or have specific clearance from Ed and Rebeca.
This intensive one and a half hour class followed by a one and half hour práctica means three hours of tango to further
polish and refine your dance to deepen your experience of tango.
