Ed Loomis
Ed plays a pivotal role in the tango community as “communications
hub,” tirelessly keeping dancers informed of Tango opportunities in and around our city. In September
of 1994, Ed arranged for Argentine instructor Nora Dinzelbacher to teach in Sacramento. Before e-mail became
popular Ed produced and mailed the newsletter Sacramento Tango. He maintains contact with and hosts visiting
Argentine instructors. His peers say, “Ed is one of the founding fathers of Sacramento Tango and
has managed to organize events for this large, diverse group of people for years…he is our spokesman and champion,
and his devotion is to this beautiful dance itself, Tango.”
Ed
has two years Ballet and eight years Ballroom experience. He has studied Tango at Stanford Tango Week and
Nora Dinzelbacher’s Tango Week for six years. He also teaches tango at the Elk Grove Ballroom and
gives private lessons upon request. Ed holds a BA in Criminal Justice. He is retired
from Pac Bell after 22 years. When not dancing tango (which is hardly ever!) he fights with the IRS!
Ed dances Tango because “I love to do it…I love the people I meet….I love the feelings that are
created on the dance floor….the dignified and civilized environment that it engenders…I especially adore all
the lovely ladies that dance tango with me. Do I need anymore reasons?”
