Donna began dancing tango in the fall of 1999
and quickly fell in love with
the tango. She had danced
other dances previously, but nothing caught her
heart and
soul the way tango did. Seven months almost to the day of taking
her first tango lesson, she opened Tango by the River. She has now danced
tango all across the United States as well as in London, Paris, Prague,
Montreal, and, of course, Buenos Aires. Many fabulous dancers and teachers
have influenced her, including Oscar Mandagaran, Miriam Larici and Hugo
Patyn, Marcos Questas, Hugo "El Gato" Valdez & Andrea Monti, Orlando Paiva
Jr. & Mariana Melling, Pampa & Valeria, Marcelo & Analia, Fabian Salas and
Carolina del Rivero, Claudia Mendoza & Luis Castro, and Lucianna Valle--just
to name a few. Now, countless hours of tango later, she enjoys helping
people discover the beauty and joy of tango. Donna excels at breaking down
difficult concepts and reducing complex steps to their simplest components.
Donna and Zak Brown teach tango classes every Tuesday night at Tango by the
River; Level I at 6:30; Level II at 7:30; Level III at 8:30. These classes
are an excellent way to begin your own love affair with tango. For more
About private lessons says Donna, "For those new to the tango, private
lessons can be an excellent way to get comfortable with the fundamentals of
tango before you join a group lesson or begin dancing tango socially. For
those with a little more tango experience who perhaps are currently studying
tango in group lessons, private lessons can be an excellent way to work on
specific problem areas or to make sure that bad habits are recognized and
stopped before they become ingrained. And for those more
intermediate/advanced dancers, private lessons can be an excellent way to
further refine your tango and perhaps even develop your performance skills."
Donna's private lessons run for a minimum of one hour. The lessons are
totally private, so it's just you and her in the studio. She charges per
lesson, per hour, and has only three rules: 1) Cancellations must be made
with at least 24 hours notice. If you cancel the day of your lesson, you are
responsible for a $25 cancellation fee (this includes the rental fee of the
studio). You never pay for the studio rental that is included with your
lesson except in the case of a cancellation with less than 24 hours notice.
2) Every minute you are late cuts into your hour of private instruction.
Your hour begins at the time that it is scheduled, not at the time you
arrive. So don't be late!!! 3) Payments are to be made the day of class in
CASH only, no exceptions. Private lessons are $75 an hour or you may
purchase a package of 10 for $650, a $100 savings. If you want a private
lesson with Donna and her teaching partner Zak, the cost is $100 an hour, or
a package of 10 for $900, a $100 savings. Call Donna at 916 443-7008 to
